Surname is variously spelt as Moorhouse, Morehouse and Moorehouse.

James Irving "Jigger" Morehouse.

September 2019 and a descendant of Jigger has contacted Blueseum with some further information.
James Irvine "Jigger" Morehouse along with his brother Arthur William "Artie" Morehouse lived in Moss Street Prahran.
Jigger played football for Prahan, St.Kilda, Carlton and around 1894 went to W.A. and played for Fremantle. He was also a good cricketer playing for South Yarra United, South Melbourne and Fremantle.
He died on 02 November 1914 in Wagga NSW

Brother of Arthur 'Artie' Morehouse.

Blueseum had him named as Jack, but with the release of Volume 5 of 'Origins of Australian Football' which has him as James and other information we had, he has now been renamed as James.

1885 At the sixth annual meeting of the Hawksburn Football Club held in Prahran, J. Moorhouse and J. Lorrain were both elected onto the committee.

1887 May 21
Victoria played Tasmania on the M.C.G.
Among the players named in the Victorian side, which was captained by Carlton's Jack Baker, was a J. Moorhouse from the short lived Prahran Football Club which later merged with St.Kilda.

1890 Recruited from StKilda, and was among the best for the season.

1891 Contributed to the success of the team.

1892 Battled manfully for the Old Dark Blue during the season.

Jigger was playing cricket for the South Melbourne C. C. he is a bowler and batsmen from the South Yarra Union Club.

1893 August 19
The Queenscliff Sentinel, August 26, reported that Jigger Moorhouse of Carlton was playing for Port Arlington in a match against Queenscliff the previous Saturday.

1890 CFC Annual Report, Moorhouse scored 6 goals during the season.

1891 CFC Annual Report, Moorhouse scored 14 goals during the season.

1892 CFC Annual Report, Moorhouse scored 8 goals during the season.

Jack Moorhouse appears in the 1891 Carlton Football Club team photo.

James'Jigger' Moorhouse played at Prahran, St Kilda and Carlton in the pre-VFA days, in addition to a stint for Fremantle between 1894 and 1897.

1894 April 14
The Carlton Gazette says "Jigger" Moorhouse has gone to Coolgardie, Western Australia.

1894 May 25
Former Blue, Moorhouse is now playing for Fremantle.

1896
The West Australian reports that a J. Moorehouse is playing with Fremantle.

Jigger Morehouse and his brother Artie are mentioned when they played for Prahran in a game with St.Kilda.

Blueseum has received information on a Joshua Barber Morehouse, DOB 01/01/1869 playing for Carlton in 1890, same player? DOD: March 04 1919 aged 49 (Joshua 'Joe')
The AFL has the player as 'Jigger' Morehouse being born James Irving Morehouse on April 6, 1864 played for Prahran, St. Kilda (VFA) 1888-89 Carlton (VFA) 1890-93, Fremantle 1894-97 then St. Kilda 1898.
The AFL Tables web site has a Jim Morehouse born April 6 1864, playing 10 V.F.L. games for St. Kilda in 1898

1914 James Irving Morehouse aged 50 of Lockhart, died of pleurisy in the Wagga Hospital on Monday November 02 (Albury Banner & Wodonga Express Nov 06 p31)
