James "Jim" Ingram
J. Ingram from the Carlton Juniors was named as an emergency for a Combined Junior team that played Essendon on April 21 1894. (Australasian April 21 p18)
1894 Ingram named in the Carlton squad that played a Brunswick (23) team at the University Ground on April 21.

1894. In a Carlton side that was weak all round was one of the best players.
1895 Was one of the outstanding Carlton players of 1895.
Retired at end of 1895 season.

1895 Ingram was reported along with St.Kilda's Archer for fighting by umpire Farr in the match on May 24.
On June 14 the V.F.A. Committee decided to suspend Ingram for four weeks and Archer received a reprimand.
At the same meeting Collingwood's Pannam (Lou Richards' grand father) and St.Kilda's Spilker were up on a similar charge for fighting on May 18.
Both of these players were only reprimanded, three reprimanded, one suspended.
"At the same time the committee expressed the opinion that the primary cause of the disturbance was the weakness of the umpire.
An amendment to the effect that Ingram should be merely reprimanded was lost, and the report of the committee adopted."

1897 July 24
The Western Australian gold rush lured J. Ingram where he continued his football career.
The Mount Magnet and Lennonville Miner (p3), Ingram was named in the Magnet team which played Cue. (Mt Magnet is 580 km north-east of Perth.)
"A word must be devoted to Ingram, who has not by his play with the Magnet in any way diminished the reputation he won when playing for Carlton (Vic). At one time Cue by some smart work had worked the ball up to the pavilion end against the wind, and a flying kick went directly to the middle of the posts. Ingram sprang up in the nick of time and cleverly marked, thus saving a goal which the crowd considered was assured."
The newspaper on August 21 reporting on the previous Saturday's match, again, against Cue, said the victorious Magnet team was captained by J. Ingram.
He seems to have been a defender as it is mentioned that he saved the Magnet goal, "but Ingram marking magnificently returned time after time."
At the Mount Magnet Hotel, Ingram was one of two players nominated for the silver medal awarded to the best player for the Magnet club for season 1897. After some discussion it was awarded to J. Ingram's team mate V. Vallance.
