Game Review

Carlton ruckman Peter Jones revelled in the muddy conditions against Geelong at Kardinia Park. Jones won most of the tap outs, took several strong marks and initiated many Carlton thrusts. He was the main factor behind the Blues victory in a closely fought match. Denis Collins provided great drive and support to Jones and his Blues teammates in his standout game on the wing. - Inside Football Player of the Year.

Big Perc is back in town and there can be no doubting who has rekindled Peter Jones enthusiasm - Alex Jesaulenko. When last speaking to Jezza we spent quite a bit of time discussing Perc's form and what he was doing to keep the big fellow going. It seems that he keeps Perc out of circle work because he feels that Peter sometimes hinders the flow of the ball. Instead Peter is sent off to some corner where he spends his time practising marking and every 10 minutes has to do four laps. This way he retains his fitness and improves his marking. Just to keep Perc on his toes he occassionally throws him into circle work and after spending so many nights doing boring end to end kicking and laps it seems that Perc finds this so refreshing he trains with the zest of a 17-year old recruit. This seems to work because Perc is now playing as well, if not better, than ever before. I also feel that the strong personal friendship between the two men is another factor and I know that Perc would give his all for Jezza. Just the same, Perc still keeps Jezza on his toes, with some of his funny antics at training, which I have heard is good for morale, anyway. - Gary Dempsey Inside Football.
