Game Review

First-gamer Kevan Hamilton, and stalwart forward Bill Milroy each kicked four goals in this good win for the Blues against St Kilda at the Junction Oval.

The atmosphere at the Junction Oval when the teams ran out was akin to a final at the M.C.G., but this was a match between two teams that had yet to win a game! Carlton's "greater strength and more experience" was the difference between the teams.

Defenders Ferry, Comben, English, Webster and James played well. Kevan Hamilton made his debut with smart roving and accurate kicking.

Carlton coach Jim Francis;

"It was a nice experience to win a game,but we were still guilty of a lot of fumbling, miskicking, and silly handball. Our pace helped a lot and our defence was in good shape. I would like to pay a tribute to St.Kilda. They were a very different proposition to last year and it is to Allan Killigrew's credit the way they fought it out to the finish."

Best; Beasy, Chick, Comben, Ferry, Milroy, Hamilton, Webster.
Scorers; Milroy 4.0, Hamilton 4.2, Clarke 2.0, Beasy 1.2, Donaldson 1.1, Kerr 1.0, Munro 0.1, Rushed 3.
