O'Regan played a single game for Carlton, running out in Navy Blue in Round 1, 1931 against the Tigers. He was recruited from Port Adelaide.

The Adelaide Advertiser April 17 1931 said;
"Midly surprising to South Australians is the report that E. O'Regan, the former Port Adelaide defender, is making a great impression at Carlton. He played a mediocre season with the seaport team last year and was dropped for the last four matches. He entered the league team at the end of the 1929 season, being heralded by an inevitable reputation as half back with Semaphore Central in the Amateur League.
Since he has thrown his lot in with Carlton a football critic says this of him:- "He looks every inch a footballer. Like most South Australians he scintillates on a fine day. As a half back he has plenty of dash, is a smart mover on the ground, and clean in his picking up of the ball. He also kicks neatly. O'Regan is likely to play regularly on the half back line."
