Keane is listed as being at Carlton in and around 1890.

Listed as being one of the better Carlton players in 1889.
By general consent Keane was named the fastest wingman in the colony.
Crossed to the Melbourne Football Club on the eve of the 1893 season.

1889 CFC Annual Report, Jack Keane scored 2 goals during the season.

1890 CFC Annual Report, Jack Keane scored 8 goals during the season.
Keane scored two goals in the victory over Footscray played at South Melbourne's Lake Oval 24th. May 1890.


1891 Keane presented with an illuminated address for long service to the club, at the Carlton general meeting held Wednesday 25th March.

1892 CFC Annual Report, Jack Keane scored 1 goal during the season.

1892 The Bendigo Advertiser July 11;
"A match is to take place this month between the Bendigo and Kyneton United Clubs, when the latter will be assisted by Keane, a well known Carlton player, who has taken up residence in Kyneton."

J. Keane played for Melbourne against Essendon at the East Melbourne C. G.

Jack Keane writing to the Sporting Globe January 2 1943 (p3) disputes Peter Burns (South Melbourne and Geelong) famous goal kicked from the centre of the MCG.
Keane had played in that match.
He also credits Carlton's Jack Baker for introducing handball into the Victorian game.
