Matthew Scully was a strong marking goalkicker for Carlton's U/19's team in 1976 and 1977. At one stage he was third in the League Goalkicking for the U/19's in 1977. He also played a few reserves games in 1977 prior to being delisted by the Blues.

Matthew Scully then headed to local VFA Club Brunswick where other former Carlton players in Tony West and Malcolm Toy had previously joined after their career with Carlton had ended..

Scully was recruited from Monbulk.

He did not manage a senior game for Carlton.
