Game Review

Third-placed Hawthorn consolidated their finals credentials with this clinical win over Carlton at Princes Park. The Blues were kept scoreless in the first term and although they fought the game out, never threatened an upset. The Hawks moved up to second spot on the ladder behind Melbourne after this win, while Carlton fell one place to ninth.

Hawthorn slipped into second place following their uneventful win over Carlton, and the defeat of Geelong. Main features of the game were the brilliant displays by rival defenders, Phil Hay (Hawthorn) and Gordon Collis (Carlton). - Football Record.
