Hargreaves played a solitary reserves game for Carlton in 2000, he was used as a top-up player for the reserves.

Hargreaves was recruited originally from Berrigan NSW, he also played at Hawthorn, Geelong and Yarrawonga.

Hargreaves won the silo kicking competition in 1995 in the Riverina town of Mirrool. He won the competition by kicking a footy over the silo's. The first winner of this was Geelong's Billy Brownless in 1992.

He did not play a Senior game for Carlton.
