O'Grady was named in the Carlton Second Twenty team that played Essendon on Princes Oval.

1880 Reserves; Centre wing player, marks well, and always secures his kick.

The signature of a William O'Grady of 1 Carlton Terrace Carlton has been found on a 1878 rate-payers' petition recently unearthed in the Pubic Records Office calling on the Melbourne City Council to provided land in the southern portion of Princes Park for the use of the Carlton Football Club.
