James F. Watson

Victorian Football Association
Career: 1881 - 1886 -1888

Ex Melbourne F. C. went to Norwood F. C?

There is a mention of a "Poss" Watson of Carlton playing in a WW1 fundraiser old players match in Perth.

Blueseum is not sure if below is the same Watson as James F. Watson of 1881.

1886 June 26
Watson named in the Carlton squad of 24 to play Sandhurst (Bendigo) at the Back Creek Cricket Ground.
Carlton won, goal kickers only mentioned in report, no match details.

1886 July 3
The following week, Watson was again named in the squad of 22 to play St.Kilda at St.Kilda.

1886 July 10
Carlton played Hotham at the M.C.G.
Watson was named in the Carlton squad of 22.

Watson's name does not reappear in team squads in 1886.

1888 May 12
Watson was named in the 26 man Carlton Reserves team squad to play University Reserves on Princes Oval.
(same player?)

Pennings' Vol 5 (p58) has T. Watson playing 1 or 2 games in 1886
