Richmond were not good enough for Carlton, who kicked 14.10 (94) to 7.8 (50). About 25.000 watched the game, which was nearly always in favor of the Blues, who were more systematic, and played with better judgment than Richmond. The Tigers, however, though outmatched, hung on grittily, playing particularly well in the third quarter, except amongst the forwards.
The feature of the final term was the marking and kicking of Duncan and Clover, the last named scoring a wonderful goal from about halfway. The most conspicuous for Carlton were Clover (6 goals), McLatchie, Farrow, Blackman, Boromeo, and O'Brien."

Horrie Clover scored his sixth goal late in the last quarter. It was a magnificent drop kick from near the centre towards the Royal Parade goal end, a distance of 75 yards. It bought the house down.
He was carried from the ground by his team mates for a superb day's effort from the Carlton captain and coach..
Horrie now has scored 54 goals for the season, ahead of second placed Bob Merrick of Fitzroy with 47. The VFL goal kicking record is 66 goals in a season.
