Game Review
The Blues playing text book wet weather football, won in all key positions. At full strength, Carlton are as good as any team this year. The Dogs missed Charlie Sutton who did not reappear after half time, and 'Scraggers missed his inspirational play. Their star forward Jack Collins was well held. Tempers became frayed in the final quarter, and a few players were reported for striking. Noel O'Brien played well and scored 4 goals against interstate representative full back Herb Henderson.
"There was no need for the Footscray player to drop "Chick" with a vicious backhander after being beaten fairly and squarely for the ball in the second term."
Carlton coach Perc Bentley
"Greater pace and teamwork, plus our players' good backing up, won for us. Our younger players have fitted in nicely and we are a well-balanced team."
