Taken at pick 4 in the 2026 mid-season draft, from the Carlton Football club reserves squad. Standing at 206 centimetres and on the back of some key development with the VFL Blues in recent years, Riley will get his chance on an AFL list after numerous years of commitment to his craft. The ruckman has played 11 games for the Carlton Reserves since the beginning of last year, earning respect at IKON Park for not only his performances on the field, but also his dedication off it. Winning the Coaches’ Award for the VFL Blues in 2025, Riley is a ruckman who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, making an impact with not only his ruck work but also getting involved at ground level.

Flynn Riley was traded to Collingwood at the end of the 2026 season. The 22-year-old only joined the Blues in the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft this year, making his AFL debut in round 18 against Hawthorn. After requesting a trade to the Pies - the club he barracked for growing up - Riley got his move on Tuesday, with Collingwood sending Carlton a 2028 third-round pick to land him. Riley had a two-year offer from the Blues but a longer 3 year deal from the Pies.

Recruited from South Morang (NFNL), Montmorency (NFNL), Parade College, Northern Knights (Talent League), Carlton (VFL) Aberfeldie (EDFL).
