Alan Pobjoy was recruited to the Blues for the 1961 season after he played in the 1960 premiership with Mornington.

Pobjoy wore No.3 when the Mornington team won the 1960 MPFL Peninsula Cup over Sorrento. This game was played on the 1st October, 1960 at Alexandra Park.

Alan Pobjoy would head to VFA club Sandringham for the 1962 season where he would play full-back in their 1962 premiership team. The Grand Final win was by a single point over Moorabbin, which was a huge achievement considering that the Zebras were down by 43 points at three quarter time. They were held scoreless in the third quarter but kicked 8.3 in the last quarter to a solitary Moorabbin goal. Pobjow was one of the Zebras best that day especially early in the game when their backs were against the wall, in the opposing team was soon to be trucking magnate Lindsay Fox who played in the ruck.

He didn't manage to play a senior game for Carlton.
