Albert Griffiths

Challenge Cup Competition
Career: 1873

Griffiths was named in a 24 man Second Twenty squad to play St. Kilda at St. Kilda.

In 1878 Carlton submitted a petition of signatures to the Melbourne City Council calling on the council to provide the club with a football ground.
An E. A. Griffiths of 16 Sackville Street Collingwood appears on the petition.

Possibly Albert Griffiths, who in July 1924 donated gold medals to the Deer Park Football Club.
In the Sunshine Advocate report it said that Griffiths was an old Carlton footballer.

Or a more tenuous link, Sam Griffiths, who former original Carlton player turned sports journalist George F. Bowen wrote about in his column in Punch December 19 1901.
Sam was a journalist and race horse owner owner. Bowen says Sam was actively involved with cricket and football in Carlton where he lived for many years.
