Arthur Edmond Harrison shares his place in Carlton Football Club history with just one other player; his predecessor Tom Hanson, who played his solitary game for the Navy Blues in 1911. They are the only two Blues to have been involved in a draw on debut, then not made another senior appearance.

In Arthur’s case, he could be considered unlucky. In his first senior game – against Collingwood at Victoria Park in April, 1914 – the Blues were the better team for most of the day. Carlton had ten more scoring shots than the Magpies, but shocking inaccuracy brought a score of 6.20 to Collingwood’s 8.8. Although Harrison steered through one of our six goals from a forward pocket, it wasn’t enough for him to hold his place in the team. He was left out of the side for the following week, and departed Princes Park mid-season.

Harrison was born in Raywood and recruited from Cobram.
