F. Armstrong

Victorian Football Association
Games: 3
Career: 1895-1896

There is some confusion with R. Armstrong who played in the same era.
Origins of Australian Football Volume 5 has F. Armstrong playing 3 games only in 1896*.

Armstrong was a rover/wingman, one of the smallest, if not the smallest player in the team.
He played most of the 1895 season and was named among the Blues best in most matches.*

1895 Recruited from North Melbourne Juniors.

1895 Made his senior debut, Round 1, against Geelong at Geelong, May 11.

1895 Armstrong played against Richmond at the University Ground.
The Blues second match for the season, May 18. Carlton won.

1896 Armstrong mentioned by The Argus, Monday 25th. May, in round three victory over Richmond at Punt Road.
"Little Armstrong was smart on the wing"

Note:

There are two Armstrongs pictured in the 1899 Melbourne Juniors VJFA premiership team, J. Armstrong and P. Armstong.
In match details they are mentioned as small wingers. Melbourne Juniors were Carlton's reserve team in 1898 and 1899.
Perhaps relations?
