Blake was born in St Kilda, and played a single game for Carlton in Season 1905.

He came from St Kilda College (formerly Caulfield College) and actually started his VFL career with the Saints where he played 7 games in two stints with the Saints (4 games from 1897 to 1898, and 3 games in 1903).

In 1907 George Blake was playing with Carlton feeder team Carlton District in the V. J. F. A.
