Tuohey or Toohey named in The Argus as playing in a Carlton 25 against a Carlton First Twenty in a scratch match at Royal Park.

1875 "The Footballer" mentions Toohey as one of the better Reserves players for the year.

1876 June 17
J. Toohey played in the Reserves team that played Albert Park at Royal Park.

1876 July 01
He also played in the Reserves side that played Kilmore at Kilmore.

1876 October 15
At the Carlton Sports Day Jas. Toohey won the Second Twenty Drop Competition with a kick of 53 yards.
