Watt was recruited from Geelong in 1879.

1879 May 03
Watt played in the first match played at the new Carlton home ground at the southern end of Princes Park called Princes Oval.
The game was the season opener against a Carlton Juniors 25 team which was a combine of the Lincoln and Carlton Imperial clubs.
Carlton won the game.

1879 May 10
Carlton played South Yarra Standard (25) at Princes Oval.
The Blues won 4 - 1.
Watt was named in the 21 man Carlton squad.

1879 May 17
The Australasian reports that the Blues has lost the services of Watt and he has returned to Geelong.

Jim Watt appears in a Geelong team photo taken in Adelaide in 1879, he was with them from 1877-79, same person?
The Express and Telegraph (Adelaide) July 15 (p3) said this about J. Watt, "a splendid forward man, kicks and marks well."
