Recruited from northern suburbs club Paramount, Ken Laker played Under 19 football for Carlton from 1969 to 1970, and Reserve grade football from 1970 to 1972.

He didn't manage a senior game for Carlton, but some time later joined Brunswick in the VFA for the start of the 1973 season, where he was a member of the Magpies' 1975 and 1980 2nd Division Premiership teams.

1971 - Under 19's Vice-Captain.
1972 - Under 19's Best Club/Team Man Award.
