Although listed as wearing the #42 for 4 successive years, the Blueseum has few records on Mark Edwards after 1987. A local boy who first played at Princes Hill FC, but later played at East Brunswick which nurtured the likes of Mil Hanna and Ang Christou. Mark was recruited into the Carlton U/19's squad for the 1985 season, he was also a member of the Victorian Teal Cup squad for the 1985 season. Edwards was a glazier by trade. Edwards also played with the Blues Little League in 1978-79.

After winning the Reserves Best First Year Player Award in 1987, Edwards also tasted premiership success albeit at the Reserves Level in 1987. "Eddo" had a mighty game in that grand final win over St Kilda where he was judged as Carlton's second best player on the day behind Darren Ogier.

Thereafter, Edwards is only listed as playing in the fabled 'Battle of Britain', a violent end of season exhibition game between North Melbourne and Carlton. In Edwards' only listed senior appearance, he was reported and suspended for 2 matches for striking North Melbourne's rugged defender John Law. Edwards had succesive knee reconstructions in the 1988 and 1989 seasons that ruined his chances of playing senior football with Carlton. In 1990, Edwards headed to VFA club Prahran with fellow Blues teammates Jon Henry, Scott Langan, Peter Mark, Tim Taylor, Michael Scicluna and Mike Barron-Toop.

Mark sadly passed away on 11 December 2020 - https://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/845241/a-tribute-to-the-late-mark-edwards
