O'Day

Victorian Football Association
Career: 1890

This player could be Thomas "Tommy" O'Day who played for Carlton in the VFL in 1898, he would have been 16 or 17 years old in 1890.

O'Day/O'Dea.

1890 April 12
O'Day was named in a 27 man Carlton squad to play a pre season match against Britannia on the Princes Oval.

1892 April 16
O'Dea is named in the 27 man Carlton team squad to play the Carlton Juniors on the Brunswick C. G.

Or could it be Patrick John O'Dea who played for North Melbourne and then for Melbourne against Carlton in 1894?
Pat went to the USA in 1896 and to the University of Wisconsin where his brother Andrew was coaching the rowers. The University's gridiron team soon discovered Pat's phenomenal kicking prowess at drops, place, and punts, and O'Dea became a legend in American Football. He was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.
In 1949 the Sporting Globe wrote an interesting article on O'Dea, to read click here> http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article178160257
