A reference in the Adelaide Observer March 15 1902 (p20) about R. Cameron who won the Adelaide Wheel Race in 1902;
"Though born in Scotland his early years were passed in Adelaide, seven years in Sydney, and the balance in Melbourne, where he is well-known as a Carlton footballer."

"It seems very probable that the first prize of the Wheel Race, to be decided today, will go to Victoria. R. Cameron showed such fine form that he is already looked upon as the winner. He is on the 100 yard mark, and rode last Saturday with great brilliancy. In Melbourne last year he was on 50 yards and got into the final of the Austral." (Express and Telegraph Adelaide March 1 p7 1902)
Bob Cameron won first prize 100 pounds in a record time 4mins 0.3/5 sec. Total winnings 114 pounds.

The Independant (Deniliquin) March 07 p1 mentions the race winner as Bob Cameron.

"R. Cameron who won the Adelaide Wheel Race so brilliantly, the Half-mile Handicap, and run second in the Commonwealth Mile, and third in the Championship of Australia at the recent meeting, is 28 years of age, and a fine type of athlete. Standing at 5 ft. 8 in and scaling 11 st. 11 lb. stripped, he is a sold customer, and drives 103 inch gear with apparent ease.
Though born in Scotland his early days were passed in Adelaide, seven years in Sydney, and the balance in Melbourne, where he is well known as a Carlton footballer. He started cycle racing last season...."
(Evening Journal (Adelaide) March 08 p7)

Not to be confused with the other Bob Cameron birthdates differ and place of birth. Bob was from Merino in the Vic's Western District.
Whether the journalists were getting the two mixed up we don't know.
Bob Cameron was studying to be a doctor while at Carlton and his profession led him to enlist in the Medical Corps in WW1 at the age of 38.
Pennings Vol.5 only mentions Robert "Bob" Cameron 1893 - 96 VFA then played VFL in 1897. (Pennings generally, only mentons players who have played in the senior teams and not reserve grade players)
