Game Review
The Blues, filling their fans with expectation given recent performances and an emerging young crop of players, were off to a cracking start to 1977 with a huge 78 point victory over Geelong at Kardinia Park. After a diappointing first quarter, Carlton took control of the match at Kardinia Park and inflicted the biggest hiding ever in 153 games played against the Cats on any ground. They won by 78 points, bettering their 1933 record of 73 points. It was the second time in the last two matches and the third time in the last 23 matches against the Blues that the Cats have failed to better 46 points.
