Game Review
How the year had turned for both teams since round 1! Carlton disposed of Richmond so easily that their second half performance left many fans unhappy at not being able to bury the old enemy. At Princes Park Carlton continued their improved form of the past six weeks, with a great 43 point victory against Richmond and it was centre-half-forward Mark Maclure who provided the spark for the win. Maclure took some brilliant marks and capped off the game with five goals. He was well supported with a hard running game by wingman Tony Pickett. - Inside Football Player of the Year.
Alex Jesaulenko is being dubbed the Genius for saving Carlton. Even if Carlton do not progress any further this year I feel his effort in regards to turning Rodney Galt into a full-time footballer deserves the tag of Genius. Galt, who has played football in Darwin, Sydney and Surfers Paradise and the bush because his club of the time didnt know what to do with him, has finally struck it. He is doing for Carlton what Peter Moore was doing for Collingwood last year. Some people are now saying "Peter Who?". Galt has kicked six goals three times and his new-found dedication and application must be amazing some of his old coaches and teammates. I only hope for his and Carlton's sakes this new lease of life is not a flash in the pan. We will have to wait and see. - Gary Dempsey Inside Football.
