Game Review
Yep, we was smashed. At the Western Oval on Saturday, Footscray had first use of the wind against Carlton and kicked well. Second quarter, the timekeepers started the outer clock a little later than they should have and at half time the clock showed only 22 minutes had elapsed. Then came a bang on the timekeepers door and in barged Carlton's chairman of selectors Wes Lofts. He demanded to know why the Blues got only 22 minutes use of the wind. It was explained that they did in fact get full use as a Carlton timekeeper was there and knew exactly what was happening. One thing about Wes, he won't give up without a fight. They tell me he was blowing more than a gale out on the ground. - Ted Whitten Inside Football.
