At three quarter time Vin Waite with a bruised thigh was replaced by David McKay who inturn was replaced by Neil Chandler during the last quarter when 'Swan' strained his ankle.

A massive crowd of 43,000 at Victoria Park, queues out to Johnston Street, just managed to squeeze in, and made way around to the outer forward pocket. Unable to get up the embankment due to the crowd, had to make do propped at the bar, listening to the radio and watching the ball sailing overhead through the goals.
