Game Review
After scoring five majors the previous week, Carlton full-forward Tom Carroll kicked another six goals in this match, and the Navy Blues destroyed traditional rivals Collingwood by 42 points at Princes Park.As the finals loomed, upset results continued, with Footscray easily beating Essendon at the Western Oval. But with one game to go in the home and away rounds, the top four was already decided. Essendon, Geelong, Melbourne and Carlton would fight out the 1962 Premiership, with only the final order to be decided in round 18. Essendon - despite being beaten - had wrapped up the minor premiership. The other three places were still up for grabs.
Gordon Collis, at centre half-forward, played brilliantly in attack for the Blues, as did full-forward Tom Carroll, scoring six goals. John Nicholls rucked tirelessly in another good performance, while Berkley Cox was a clear winner in the centre. Followers Serge Silvagni and Maurie Sankey marked well and were effective around the ground, while winger Murray Kick took some superb marks and often drove Carlton into attack. - Football Record.
