Game Review

This game was a huge early-season test for the rapidly-improving Carlton - second versus third on the ladder, at Collingwood's home ground of Victoria Park.

After an even first quarter the Magpies had most of the play, but squandered their chances in front of goal and were narrowly beaten by a more efficient Carlton team. Percy Pitt kicked four goals at full-forward for the Blues, whose joy was compounded when the win knocked the 'Pies from second to fourth, and lifted the Blues took their place with a percentage of 87.4.

Scores were even at half time and at the start of the third quarter the Woods goaled to give them the lead for the first time in the match. Third gamer, Pitt then slammed on three goals in quick succession to shut them out.
