Game Review

The Blues did well to contain the ladder-leaders Fitzroy after half time, but the damage was done in a slow first quarter. Carlton's poor percentage would eventually came home to haunt us after this weekend, when South Melbourne beat Essendon, and Melbourne thrashed cellar-dwellers St Kilda. Despite the loss, this was a much better effort by the Blues than in their previous meeting with Fitzroy, who won by 94 points in round one.

As this turbulent season continued, Carlton and Essendon both dropped out of the top four after this round. Fitzroy, South Melbourne, Collingwood and Melbourne now led the way, with Carlton fifth.
