Game Review

A strong 4 quarter performance gave reason to believe the Blues might be on the rise. The Royboys had been in reasonable form but Carlton proved far too good.

Robert Walls and Trevor Keogh, who thus far in 1974 had been disappointing, found their best and sparked the Blues best effort thus far in a troubled season. Barry Armstrong continued with his fine form.

Although it was only their second century score of the season, Carlton showed some semblance of a return to their best when they completely outclassed a weakened Fitzroy by 59 points. This was the Blues highest score against Fitzroy in the last eight games and the Lions lowest against Carlton since 1968. The Blues are now the best performed team at VFL Park with 12 wins, 3 losses, and one draw. - Football Record.
