Game Review

This was a very even team performance from the Blues. Defeat in this match would have ended Carlton's finals chances, but the team responded to coach Percy Bentley's urgings and comfortably beat the Swans by four goals. We were back up into sixth spot on the ladder, one win and percentage short of a finals berth.

After an even first quarter the Blues got on top with their defence playing well especially McKaige and English. Ken Hands was Carlton's best, his marking and long accurate kicks to his team mates made it difficult for South to intercept. The Blues rovers and half forward flankers were busy driving the ball into the forward line. The Swans added a few goals late in the game, but Carlton were well in control.
