Game Review

Alarm bells started ringing at Princes Park after the Blues suffered a second loss on the trot in this home game against Essendon. Another scoreless last quarter raised questions about Jack Worrall’s intense training regime, but as usual he would not be swayed from his convictions.

Meanwhile, in another round of surprises, Melbourne made the previous week’s win over Carlton more credible by thrashing Geelong at home, bottom side St Kilda upset Collingwood at the Junction Oval, and ladder-leaders Fitzroy beat South Melbourne by one point at Brunswick St.

The Blues were now clinging to fourth ladder position with a percentage of 83.1, one win ahead of Essendon.
