Game Review

Ted Pollock - in his only game for the season, played as 19th man. He sat on the bench all day and didn't get a run, but he became the youngest player to represent Carlton in the League, at 16 years, 200 days old. The previous youngest Carlton player was Harry Gyles, in Round 2, 1897 who took to the field at the age of 16 years and 321 days.

At the end of this round Carlton were in 1st spot on the ladder with a percentage of 150.0.

Up There, Clover!

"As suggested in these columns last week, Horrie Clover went full forward instead of taking up his old position as centre half-forward, where he experiences too much attention.
Against St.Kilda, Clover kicked five goals, and was the source of worry all through. He kicked well though a knock on the ankle early in the third quarter worried him or a while.
Clover had the St.Kilda defenders guessing all the time. There is no doubt that he is going to kick goals in this new position. Against St.Kilda he has usually proved a source of worry. In 1921 he kicked 13 goals against the Saints from centre half-forward. In last season's semi-final he kicked six from the same position.
Can Dibbs check Clover on Saturday? That is the question being discusse by football enthusiasts.

Gill Still Shining.

"Like a meteor, Frank Gill, Carlton full-back, is flashing into prominence every Saturday. Pitted against the graceful and skillful young St.Kilda forward Bill Mohr, who reminds one of a deer in his grace, the dashing determined Gill proved a little too powerful.
Gill gave a dashing display. He seldom let Mohr gain a mark, but came from the back with a well timed leap for a punch away. Gill is a superb defender, and it will be a hard job to leave him out of the Carnival side. Most serious rivals appear to be Todd (Geelong), Dibbs (Collingwood), Tymms (Melbourne), and Vosti (Essendon)
