Steven Williamson did not play at senior level for Carlton, but he was used as a top-up player for the Reserves for one match in 2002. Recruited from Scoresby, he had previously played TAC Cup football for the Eastern Ranges. His junior clubs were Thornton and Eildon, and in a varied career he had also been used as a top-up for Footscray Reserves in 1999.

Williamson's only appearance for the Blues Reserves came the last home and away match of the 2002 season (round 20) against Werribee. This was the last time that Carlton fielded a stand-alone Reserves team, because from 2003 they aligned with the Northern Bullants. Carlton had not made the finals and injury had cut their playing stocks, but the match was to be telecast on the ABC, so Williamson, Ben Hackett, Kristan Height and Tim Muhlebach were all plucked from local leagues to make up the numbers.
