Tim Taylor was selected by the Blues in the 1989 Pre-season draft at pick 54, this was the Blues fourth pick overall. Taylor was dangerous around goals in the thirds, and later at VFA Club Prahran.

Taylor was recruited from VAFA club Therry.

In 1990, Taylor headed to VFA club Prahran with fellow Blues teammates Jon Henry, Scott Langan, Peter Mark, Mark Edwards, Michael Scicluna and Mike Barron-Toop.

He did not manage a senior game for Carlton.
