Chris Johnson was drafted with Carlton's Pick 4 in the 2009 Pre-Season Draft. Originally from East Fremantle, Johnson was drafted by Melbourne with a 3rd round selection (Father/Son), number 36 overall, in the 2003 National Draft. He is the son of Melbourne Demons player Alan Johnson.
Chris made his AFL debut in 2005, playing 31 games (for 2 goals) with the Demons up to and including Season 2008.
Johnson's form in the pre-season competition of 2009 was very promising and his kicking skills added a lot of improvement to the way the ball was being delivered out of the backline. It was enough to see him selected for his Carlton debut in the massive season-opener against Richmond in Round 1, and 10 games followed in his first year at Carlton, interrupted by injuries. A further 5 followed in 2010, blighted a little by injury and sometime by form and he failed to establish himself as a regular in the side. He was also a solid contributor for the Northern Bullants, finishing fourth in the 2010 Best and Fairest.
He was not retained on Carlton's list after the 2010 season.
In 2011, Johnson signed on to play with local Essendon Districts FL Club Greenvale, he would play a key role in helping Greenvale secure the 2012 premiership.
Chris is now a marriage celebrant, Blues supporters can find his services at http://www.chrisjohnsoncelebrant.com/.
