In Diesel’s time at Carlton, he was reported 6 times for suspensions totalling 13 weeks. This total includes the 9 week penalty for interfering with an Umpire, from Round 1, 1997, which was appealed.

Whilst up at Sydney, Williams was sentenced for 5 weeks for striking Blue David Rhys-Jones in Round 11, 1989. Other large suspensions were incurred whilst at the Swans for striking David Grenvold (6 weeks in 1990) and David Hart (4 weeks in 1991).

Also of note is Diesel’s two suspensions in State Games; initially getting 1 week for striking Blue Jon Dorotich in a Victoria v WA fixture in 1987, and then getting 2 weeks for striking McIntosh of South Australia in 1988.
