Game Review
What a shocker of a game - it was at the old Western Oval before they abandoned it due to lack of interest, and the rain just kept pelting down. We were surrounded by Bulldogs fans who looked a lot like their animal namesakes, and the Blues only kicked 1 goal all game. That honour went to former 'Roo Mark Arceri, who slotted our only major in the last quarter to at least give us something to cheer about. Something very small but something nonetheless. Carlton also had 2 goals disallowed during the first term, after we completely dominated for the first 15 minutes. However, we were unable to transfer that dominance to the scoreboard. Extraordinary!
Blues only goal
Carlton scored their lowest score in 87 seasons today at the Western Oval. The 1.10.16 was their worst in 111 matches against Footscray. It was the worst score since the black season of 1904 when Carlton scored 1.8.14 - twice. Carlton were saved from embarrassment by a goal from a free kick to Mark Arceri with 33 seconds to go. Footscray kicked 8.9.57.- 100 Years of Australian Football (1897 to 1996).
