Game Review
Continuing their late-season decline, the Blues lost this last game of the home and away rounds with another indifferent display against Melbourne at Princes Park. The Redlegs were more efficient and committed than Carlton, who wasted too many shots at goal from difficult angles. However, first-gamer Matt Crowe - deputising for the injured Joe Sullivan - impressed with two goals on debut.Despite this third loss in a row, Carlton’s 9-win, 5-loss season ranked us third on the ladder behind Collingwood and Fitzroy, heading into the Sectional games that would decide the 1903 finalists. The Blues would now play the 7th, first and 5th teams in the final three rounds for the year, beginning with a rematch against Melbourne at the MCG on the following Saturday.
