A pacy player with a passion for footy, Katie-Jayne Grieve will don the navy blue in 2018 after being selected with pick No.12 in the 2017 AFL Women's rookie draft. After completing her first season of footy this year, Grieve made a real impact – finishing second in her club’s best and fairest, as well as making the team of the year. Women’s senior coach Damien Keeping said he was excited by Grieve’s potential. “It’s a real testament to Katie’s character and skill that she came runner-up in her best and fairest in her first season,” Keeping said. “She’s definitely a rising star of the competition, so we’re glad she’ll be on our team next year.”

After being passed up on in the national draft less than a week earlier, Grieve was ultimately drafted by Carlton with the club's second pick and the twelfth selection overall in the same year's rookie draft. She made her debut in a 22-point loss to Brisbane at Ikon Park in the third round of the 2018 season. At the end of the 2018 AFLW season the Blues delisted Katie-Jayne from their primary playing list. Undrafted free agency - A final free agency period opened after the conclusion of the draft, allowing clubs that passed on a draft selection to recruit from outside their state-based zone, as a result Fremantle recruited Katie-Jayne Grieve from Carlton via Peel Thunderbirds (WAWFL). In October 2018, after leaving Carlton, Grieve joined Fremantle as a free agent.

In June 2021, Fremantle delisted Grieve who played 14 games for the club.
