Game Review
Even the lowly Tigers were jumping on Carlton's mid-season slump with this 47-point win at their home ground.
Carlton fell to 10th after this loss, as Richmond leap-frogged the Blues on the ladder.
Into the side came Berner, Browning, Burke, Beasy, and Moran. Ken Hands was out injured, Caspar and Holt suspended, Molony and Brown were omitted.
Richmond which hadn't won a game for 6 weeks ran away in the second half to win by 47 points. Carlton had too many inexperienced players in the side. The centre line was made up of first year players, and were beaten. However, new man Bergin showed promise. The Tigers dominated in the air and took marks at will. Webster then Ferry could not hold Poulter who kicked 8.5 with a couple of misses.
"Carlton is looking to future seasons. It is badly lacking in good, big men."
Carlton coach Perc Bentley
"We needed good, big men in the side, which was beaten in the air by Richmond. We missed captain Ken Hands, and Donaldson, who could not play because of injuries. Carlton's backs could not hold Richmond forwards, particularly Poulter."Best
