Game Review
Once again, wayward shooting for goal plagued the Blues in this game against the struggling Demons. Carlton had a mammoth 36 shots at goal - 16 more than Melbourne - yet won by only 26 points. It was a golden opportunity to boost our flagging percentage, and the chance went begging. We remained in seventh ladder position, with time and opportunities running out.If the Blues had kicked accurately they would have won by eight goals, as it was, it was not until half way through the final term that they were assured of victory. Melbourne settled early but the Blues missed five easy shots at goal in the first term. The Blues came back in the second quarter but wasted their dominance with poor kicking. After half time Brown was moved onto the damaging Melbourne player McKenzie, and the Demons lost a lot of it's drive. The visitors scored an early goal in the final quarter to give it some hope, but the Blues booted three quick goals to put the result beyond doubt.
Skipper Ken Hands gave a best on the ground performance and Melbourne had no one to match him.
