Down by 15 points at half-time, the Blues switched their attack through lively half-forward
Hedley Blackmore, and kicked six goals to Collingwood's three in the third term to lead by five points at the last change. Then in an engrossing last quarter, Carlton scored 2.3, and Collingwood kicked 3.2, to tie the scores at the final bell.
At the end of this round Carlton were in 7th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 85.2.
