Tony Murphy played reserve grade football for Carlton from 1961 to 1962. Murphy was recruited from Richmond where he had played 3 games and kicked 1 goal during the 1960 season. Anthony was a rover who worked his way up from the Richmond Fourths to the Seniors. He was a member of the Under/19’s first Premiership side in 1958. After one season, of senior football with Richmond, he crossed to Carlton where he played with their reserves in 1961 and part of 1962. He then spent the remaining part of 1962, with Oakleigh. He later spent three seasons with Yarrawonga where he represented the Ovens and Murray League. After leaving Yarrawonga, he played in excess of 200 games in the Tungamah League, winning the Competition Best and Fairest in 1966. Anthony now lives in Yarrawonga.
