Hawthorn have joined the VFA and replaced by Elsternwick, ex Melbourne District Association. (Herald April 24 p4)


"The prospects of the Carlton District team are very bright. The annual meeting was one of the most enthusiastic the club has held, and was attended by nearly 100 members.
Mr. W. F. Evans is once again president, and Mr. H. Haslam succeeds Mr. Millikin as treasurer, Mr Millikin is at present in England. The finances are in a satisfactory condition.
Practice matches have been played against Melbourne, University and Carlton clubs, and the committee have expressed satisfaction with the form shown, particularly by the new players.
The most promising of the recruits are probably Fergie and Salmonow (Scotch College), Mountjoy (Public Service), Morley (East Brunswick Presbyterians), Powditch (Northern District), Bunn (Brougham Street),
Cullen (Kerang), Amery (St.Andrews), Clarke (Railways), Purcell (Artillery), Gibb (Hawthorn), Gherardin and Howell (Carlton Methodists),
The chief absentee is J. Andrew who will play with the local seniors. G. Allan, H. Evans, P. Webb will probably be seen in the colors again this season.
Mr. H. Numa has been elected hon. secretary for the twelfth year in succession." (Herald April 24 p4)

One point separated the teams at quarter and half time.
After the long break District closed up the game not allowing Collegians open style of play to dominate.

Players and supporters caught the 2pm train to Malvern.

Carlton only got on top in the final term. Faulty kicking cost Caulfield dearly.

District were missing six of their regulars, however their replacements played well.
A strong cross wind hamperd play. The home side led by 14 points at quarter time, with the lead out to 20 points early in the second.
From then on Carlton attacked but could only managed 1.4 and trailled by 10 points at half time.
The scond half was again dominated by Carlton District but could not bridge the gap.

A good crowd saw a fast long kicking game.
Return of the Carlton captain Witton after a five week absence due to an injury aided the team.
District led by 1 point at quarter time and by 7 points at half time. Collegians then held a lead of 10 points at the last change. District then slammed on 3 goals for a slight lead. Collegians attacked and held a lead of 7 points with just 4 minutes remaining. Not to be denied, Carlton District then scored 2.1 to run out victors by 6 points.
