Game Review

The Navy Blues suffered their first loss of the season when they were narrowly beaten by a rapidly-improving Geelong at Princes Park. A strong cross breeze made accurate goal-kicking near impossible, but Cats champion Doug Wade landed two long bombs in the last quarter to get his team over the line by six points.
With this result, Essendon and Geelong both leap-frogged Carlton to the top two places on the ladder, with Hawthorn fourth. Early season front-runners Collingwood and North Melbourne were falling off the pace, in seventh and eighth respectively.
