Game Review
The dawning of a treacherous rivalry fueled by Kevin Sheedy's desire to beat Carlton that was nutured in his years at Punt Road. Essendon had just defeated top of the ladder Collingwood and proceeded to overrun us at their home ground in heavy conditions. Even the likes of Graeme Schultz, who had not played VFL for seven years before this game, got into his stride immediately to score some opportunistic goals.
Essendon pushed Carlton off the top of the ladder when it defeated the Blues at Windy Hill.
